Operate road maintenance equipment for the Region of Waterloo in a temporary full-time transportation role at the Regional Operations Centre.

This Roads Maintenance Operator performs regional roads, bridges, and roadside work across summer and winter operations. Duties include crack sealing, bridge washing, drainage work, snow plowing, ice control, traffic control, and equipment operation. The position supports protected, maintained transportation infrastructure throughout the region.

Key Responsibilities:

- Perform crack sealing, bridge washing, shouldering, and drainage work
- Operate dump trucks, loaders, backhoes, and related equipment
- Complete snow plowing, salting, sanding, and roadside ice removal
- Install culverts, restore trenches, and perform landscaping work




- Maintain equipment, complete inspections, and report safety issues

Requirements:

- Grade 12 plus two years directly related experience
- Valid Class D driver's licence with Z endorsement
- Knowledge of road maintenance, construction, and surveying procedures
- Ability to interpret traffic plans, manuals, and safety notices
- Ability to work variable shifts and complete physical demands testing
