Art With A Heart Inc. (AWAH) is a Canadian Registered Charity celebrating 16 years of creative impact. Based in the heart of Durham Region, we deliver inclusive, expressive arts-based programs that foster well-being and connection. Our work spans all ages and backgrounds, with a special focus on marginalized communities— supporting individuals in shelters, youth outreach, mental health transitions, seniors’ centers, and more.

The Role

We’re seeking a Part time Bookkeeper to join our passionate team. Reporting to the Founder and Board of Directors, this role is essential to maintaining the financial health and transparency of our organization.

Responsibilities
Maintain financial records from ledger entries to trial balance
Manage accounts receivable and payable
Prepare and process deposits
Run a small payroll
Ensure timely submission of monthly, quarterly, and annual remittances and reports
Generate financial reports for internal use




Coordinate annual audit and liaise with auditors
Support annual budget preparation and presentation

Qualifications
Degree or certificate in accounting/bookkeeping or equivalent experience
3–5 years bookkeeping/accounting experience (non-profit sector preferred)
Familiarity with regulations governing charities
Proficiency in QuickBooks
Strong skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and Google Workspace
Excellent written and verbal communication
Ability to work with diverse populations
Strong organizational and financial management skills
Skilled confidentiality and people skills
Self-directed and reliable
