Provide therapeutic counseling at MercyOne Waterloo Medical Center using behavioral health assessment and treatment planning skills. This full time day shift serves patients and families.

The Behavioral Health Counselor delivers counseling for a behavioral health population at MercyOne Waterloo Medical Center. The position conducts assessments, develops individualized treatment plans, and provides individual and group therapy. It also coordinates discharge and after-care planning with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams.

Key Responsibilities:
Conduct assessments and one-on-one patient interviews
Formulate treatment plans and document individualized issues
Provide therapy using various techniques
Conduct daily group sessions based on treatment plans




Plan discharge and communicate recommended follow-up treatment

Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in social work, human services, counseling, psychology, or related field
BLS and Mandatory Reporter requirements
CADC certification within one year for chemical dependency work
NVCI training within six months of hire
Three years of individual and group therapy preferred
