Support ambulatory care operations at North York General through patient registration, appointment scheduling, and skilled communication. This part-time temporary position includes day, evening, and weekend shifts.

As a Unit Secretary in the Ambulatory Care Unit, you provide administrative, secretarial, and receptionist support for a busy outpatient clinic. You communicate with patients, families, staff, and external parties while applying critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Your work supports timely clinic services, documentation, and patient information.

Key Responsibilities:

- Register patients and schedule appointments upon clinic arrival
- Coordinate telephone inquiries, transportation, discharges, and clinic services
- Transcribe physicians’ orders and notify appropriate departments




- Process requisitions, documentation, test results, and follow-up appointments
- Manage admissions, discharges, supplies, reports, and patient information

Requirements:

- Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent
- Medical Secretary or Medical Office Assistant certificate
- Working knowledge of medical terminology
- Minimum one year comparable office experience
- Ambulatory clinic experience and 45 w.p.m. typing proficiency
