This Locomotive Mechanic position repairs and services locomotives across Cando’s specialized rail operations. Responsibilities include inspections, preventive maintenance, mechanical repairs, component replacement, and engine overhauls. The work requires interpreting technical drawings, completing logs, and maintaining tools, vehicles, and work areas.
Key Responsibilities: Inspect locomotives and diagnose mechanical issues
Perform scheduled preventive maintenance and regulatory inspections
Repair engines, braking systems, wheels, bearings, and couplers




Complete engine overhauls and major mechanical repairs
Record inspections, repairs, and maintenance in required logs
Requirements: Demonstrated heavy equipment repair experience and mechanical aptitude
Diesel, automotive, or heavy equipment experience
Proficiency with tools, test equipment, and secure shop practices
Ability to lift, push, and pull fifty pounds
Valid driver’s license and Workplace Safety standards compliance
Use heavy equipment repair, inspection, and troubleshooting skills to service Cando locomotives safely across field operations.
