The Township of Leeds and the Thousand Islands recruits paid on-call firefighters for its four stations on an ongoing basis. Recruits complete a minimum 12-month probation and must become NFPA 1001 certified within 36 months.
Pay: Not posted (minimum one hour of pay per emergency response; rates set by remuneration policy)

Key requirements:
Ontario high school diploma or equivalent and age 18 or older
Valid unrestricted Ontario Class G licence, with Class DZ within one year of hire
Satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check and driver's abstract
Medical certificate confirming ability to perform essential duties
Live near one of the four fire stations
Attend at least 60% of training and 25% of emergency calls each year
