CMHA Kelowna & District is hiring a part time, term, Kitchen Assistant until February 24, 2028. This position offers 18 hours a week with a work schedule of Tuesday - Thursday 7:30am – 2:00pm.WHO IS A KITCHEN ASSISTANT?The Kitchen Assistant supports the Meals Matter Program by performing kitchen cleaning duties and assisting the cooks in food preparation for the CMHA Kelowna & District Supportive Housing Programs.WHAT DOES A KITCHEN ASSISTANT DO?Wash dishes and kitchen equipmentEnsure the kitchen is clean, sanitized and organized, adhering to health and safety standardsHelp with food prep under the direct supervision of cooksProperly store ingredients as directedPerforms other related duties as assignedYOUR STRENGTHS & EXPERIENCE:Ability to be regularly exposed to individuals who are struggling with and/or recovering from trauma, drug/alcohol use, homelessness, mental health challenges and/or mental illnessCriminal Record Check clearance in the Vulnerable Sector is requiredExperience working in a kitchen setting considered an assetFood Safe Certification is considered an assetCommunication skills to effectively interact with team membersDemonstrate flexibility in scheduling to meet kitchen needsAbility to maintain consistent professional boundariesFamiliarity with health and safety standards in food service considered an assetWHO IS CMHA KELOWNA & DISTRICT?At CMHA Kelowna & District, we are dedicated to Mental Health in our community.
