Mechanical product development at RBR combines first-principles analysis, simulation, and testing to create ocean instruments for harsh environments. This engineering role is not drafting.
As a Mechanical Engineer, you will work with experienced engineers, designers, and technologists on sensors, instruments, and OEM assemblies. You may be a strong intermediate or senior engineer, with 8+ years in product development. The work supports scientific data collection for researchers and partners including Fisheries and Oceans Canada.
Key Responsibilities:
- Define products from scientific and customer requirements
- Own designs through production release and documentation
- Verify stress, pressure, thermal, fluid, and tolerance designs
- Validate models with FEA, CFD, thermal simulation,
and testing
- Drive failures to root cause and mentor junior engineers
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
- 8+ years of mechanical product development experience
- Robust mechanics, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, and dynamics fundamentals
- Hands-on FEA or CFD experience with sound engineering judgment
- Proficiency in 3D CAD; SolidWorks preferred
Apply mechanical analysis, product design, simulation, and testing expertise to RBR instruments serving ocean research and climate science.
