Generic AI averages the internet. Onix lets you summon the actual judgment of a health and wellness expert who has spent a career on your problem, private and personal: names already live on the App Store include Dave Rabin , Mark Sisson , Ashley Koff , William Li , and Elissa Epel .
We need a designer with a real visual voice: someone who decides how Onix looks and feels everywhere a person meets it. The app, the website, social, events, and print, down to postcards, bookmarks, and stickers.
You have artistic direction and flair, and you make the work yourself in Figma every day. You build on the design system we already have, and you push it further. You work in person with our team in Old Montreal.
What You Will Do
- Visual direction. Own how Onix looks and feels across every surface, so the app, website, social feed, events, and print all read as one brand.
- Product design. Design screens and flows for the iOS app with our product lead, from first open through the hundredth session.
- Brand and campaign design. Make the social posts, campaign pieces, event materials, and print items yourself.
- Design system. Evolve our existing system (color, type, spacing, components, illustration, and imagery) so engineering, product, and marketing can build from it directly.
- Ship with engineering. Specify clearly, review builds, and hold the line on the details that matter.
- Leadership reviews. Present and defend design decisions to the founders regularly, work with the feedback, and come back with something better.
Who You Are
- You have a distinct visual voice, and your portfolio shows it.
- Range across brand identity, campaigns, and shipped app UI.
- You make personal work: illustration, art, type, photography, or side projects.
- Hands-on in Figma. You make the files yourself.
- Strong opinions with reasons, and you defend them under direct feedback.
- You use AI in your process and still hold craft and taste as non-negotiable.
This Role is NOT For You If:
- You want a remote job. We build together in person, in Old Montreal.
- You want to manage a design team rather than make the work yourself.
- Your portfolio is mostly dashboards and device mockups.
- You would rather avoid direct critique than take it and get better.
What Success Looks Like
- People recognize an Onix post, screen, or postcard before they see the logo.
- The app, website, social feed, events, and print share one visual system.
- The design system includes brand elements, and everyone builds from it independently.
- You have shipped meaningful changes to the app, not just explorations.
- Marketing and growth get assets from you rapid, without breaking the brand.
How to Apply
Download Onix from the App Store using invite code OnixCareers. Use it properly. Try several onixes with real questions, and go past the first session. Then look at our website and Instagram.
Send us three things:
- Your read on our look. Where Onix feels generic today, and how you would change it.
- Your portfolio, brand and product. Show brand identity and campaign work next to shipped app UI, with the thinking attached.
- Your personal work. Anything you made for its own sake.
Decision models answer with probabilities. We test how calibrated they are on coin flips and random digits, and why calibrating and validating them matters.
