The Director, Strategy and Business Development, will be responsible for contributing to growing Seaspan Shipyards business by leading and implementing business strategies for new or growing markets. Interfacing with Seaspan’s senior leadership team, this role will lead and support a range of strategic plans and initiatives including broad new business strategies, transformational initiatives, strategic initiatives and complex captures. Key to this role will be a strategic approach to understanding the breadth and complexity of our customer’s needs and developing strategies and solutions to meet those needs – both technical and non-technical. Working as part of the broader multi-disciplinary Seaspan team, this role will include direct leadership of capture teams growing to larger temporary teams during proposal activity and collaborative interfaces to many other departments and teams within Seaspan. Employee will be subject to the terms of the Flexible Work Policy Agreement. Drive future growth for the company through disciplined but creative strategy and business development. Lead development and implementation of new business strategies targeting new or growing markets.



Lead implementation of strategic initiatives Lead activities to find and develop opportunities both with new potential customers and with existing customers. Maintain key business development contacts with current and potential customers. Identify growth opportunities within international markets and work with the wider Seaspan organization to develop competitive export offerings. Strong communication skills (verbal and written) with customers, partners, suppliers and within Seaspan. 10+ years of professional industry experience advancing complex new business development strategies and bid proposals in the shipbuilding industry or in a complex defence, aerospace or systems development, manufacturing or construction industry. ~ Proven track record of developing business strategies and then leading the implementation. ~ Experience leading and closing complex opportunities with contract values over $10M and ideally over $50M. ~ Broad understanding of technical, programmatic, financial and commercial aspects of complex deals. ~ This job is both strategic and tactical, and requires substantial leadership in market/customer strategy and opportunity capture. ~ Ability to work in a highly flexible and fluid environment and maintain calm and rational thinking and reasoning at all times. ~ Skilled at advocacy, influence, and persuasion, with the able to convince others to act on information or recommendations based on compelling logic or common best interests. ~ Knowledge of complex government markets.



~ Robust knowledge and expertise with Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Word, Project and Excel). ~ This is a full-time, permanent position.
