Company Description MCAD Inc., the Maritime Centre for African Dance, is an organization founded in 2005 to teach, share, and promote African culture through dance to youth and adults across Canada. The organization has engaged more than 500,000 children and adults in schools, community centers, camps, and various programs, with participation continuing to grow. MCAD was created to address the lack of cultural representation in traditional African dance within Canada.

Its team is a collective of trained traditional dancers from across Africa, including the South, North, West, and East regions. MCAD also holds trademarks for The Dance-off, Atlantic Canada’s first hip hop competition, and operates the online platform www.masteps.com.

Role Description The Human Resources Generalist at MCAD Inc. will support day-to-day HR operations in a remote, contract capacity. This role will assist with implementing and maintaining HR policies, managing employee documentation, and supporting onboarding and offboarding processes.

The Human Resources

Generalist will coordinate perks administration activities, help resolve employee inquiries,



and support compliance with employment standards and internal guidelines. The role will also involve maintaining accurate HR records, generating HR reports, and collaborating with leadership to improve HR practices that support a culturally diverse and inclusive organization.

Qualifications

- Candidates should possess skills in Human Resources (HR) and HR Management.
- Candidates should possess skills in HR Policies and compliance with employment regulations.
- Candidates should possess skills in Employee Benefits and Benefits Administration.
- Experience with remote HR support, HR information systems, and documentation management is beneficial.
- Strong communication, confidentiality, and interpersonal skills to work effectively with a diverse team.
- Previous HR experience in nonprofit, arts, or community-focused organizations is an asset.
- Relevant education in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
