About the Role

At Hilo Labs, we help founders and businesses bring digital products to life - fast. We’re looking for a Full Stack Developer (Backend-Focused) who’s excited by variety: one day architecting a scalable API, the next integrating a Figma design into a client-facing app.

You’ll start on one of our client projects in a small, fast-moving team, then take ownership of entire projects as you grow.

What You’ll Do

- Build and maintain backend systems using Nest.js, Node.js, or PHP
- Work with MySQL or MongoDB databases
- Implement frontends using Vue, Ionic, or React, turning Figma designs into production-ready code
- Collaborate with other developers through GitHub, Jira, and Notion
- Participate in architecture discussions and make decisions that balance scalability and speed
- Manage deployments and DevOps workflows (AWS familiarity is a plus)
- Communicate progress clearly - both internally and with clients

- Take initiative to improve systems and contribute current ideas

What We’re Looking For

- 3–5 years of full stack development experience
- Strong understanding of backend architecture and API design
- Experience with at least one frontend framework (Vue, React, or Ionic)
- Familiar with AWS and CI/CD concepts
- Excellent communication skills and a proactive mindset
- Curiosity, resilience, and drive to constantly improve
- Excited to grow into a lead developer role
- You are very motivated and take real ownership of outcomes
- You are willing to put in extra effort when a project or deadline demands it

Bonus Points

- Experience with client communication or consulting
- Interest in product thinking or entrepreneurship
- You can pick up unfamiliar domains quickly and spot problems early
