ABOUT THE ROLE

Sturgeon Creek 1 Retirement Residence is seeking a full-time Cook to join our culinary team and help create an enjoyable dining experience for our residents.

As a Cook, you will prepare nutritious, appetizing meals according to established menus, recipes and residents’ dietary needs. You will work closely with the dietary team to maintain food quality, kitchen cleanliness and safe food-handling practices.

Schedule: Day, evening and weekend shifts.

Responsibilities

- Prepare, cook and present meals according to established menus, recipes, portion sizes and residents’ dietary requirements, including allergies and modified diets.
- Follow safe food-handling, storage, temperature-control and sanitation procedures, maintaining a clean and organized kitchen.
- Coordinate meal preparation and service with the dietary team, monitor supplies and help minimize food waste.

Qualifications

- A valid Food Handling Certificate.
- Knowledge of food safety, sanitation and the preparation of meals for special dietary needs.
- Familiarity with kitchen equipment and its protected operation.
- Experience in quantity food preparation, preferably in a retirement residence,



healthcare setting or institutional kitchen.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with attention to food quality and presentation.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with the dietary team.
- Availability to work day, evening and weekend shifts.
- Experience working with older adults is an asset.
