About the Position

NorthCrew General Contracting is hiring two experienced General Carpenters to support residential, community and general construction projects throughout the Fort McKay and Wood Buffalo region.

Current work includes new home construction in Fort McKay, with opportunities to assist on other construction and industrial projects as they become available.

We are looking for dependable, hands-on carpenters with solid construction experience who can work independently, follow instructions, and contribute to a small, versatile construction crew.

Red Seal certification is not required. Practical carpentry experience, workmanship and reliability are our priorities.

Responsibilities

- Residential home construction and general carpentry
- Framing, blocking, sheathing and rough carpentry
- Decks, stairs, railings and exterior construction
- Interior finishing, doors, trim and installations
- Concrete formwork
- Fencing, gates and general repairs
- Measuring, layout and reading construction drawings
- Work independently and alongside other carpenters
- Assist with general construction and site work as required
- Maintain tools, materials and organized work areas
- Follow company safety procedures and complete required documentation
- Keep a clean work truck and clean work area

Qualifications

- Previous hands-on carpentry experience required
- Experience with residential construction, framing or general carpentry




- Ability to use carpentry tools and equipment safely
- Solid measuring, layout and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Comfortable working as part of a small construction crew
- Valid Class 5 driver's licence
- Reliable, safety-minded and willing to assist with different construction tasks

Red Seal or Journeyperson certification is an asset but is NOT REQUIRED.

Experience with concrete formwork, decks, fencing, civil construction, industrial construction or equipment operation is considered an asset.

Schedule

Schedules vary depending on project requirements.

- Fort McKay residential and community projects: Typically Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:00 PM
- Additional hours may be required depending on the project
- LOA and accommodations are not provided

Specific schedules and project requirements will be discussed before assignment.

Safety & Certifications

CSTS/CSO, WHMIS, First Aid, Fall Protection, Ground Disturbance and other applicable construction certifications are considered assets.
