We are a Vancouver company selling furniture made by our partner factories and shipped to customers across Canada and the US.
What you will do
- Speak with our factories, suppliers and shipping agents in China, in Mandarin.
- Work with our team in English.
- Keep the conversation going both ways: take our questions and instructions to our partners, and bring their answers back to us with your own view.
- Push partners to meet deadlines, and solve problems when things go wrong.
- Review each order with the factory before we approve it, and make sure it matches exactly what we asked for.
- Follow up on production: confirm orders, check progress, chase late orders.
- Work with our quality control contractors in China: give them clear instructions, and solve problems together with them.
- Work with shipping agents, freight forwarders and carriers so every order ships on time and by the right route.
- Follow each order from factory to customer.
- Keep our order records accurate in Shopify and Google Sheets: status, ship dates, tracking.
- Send a short daily update on where every open order stands.
- Use AI tools, including Claude Code, in your everyday work. We can show you how.
Schedule
- Remote, with in-person meetings in Metro Vancouver several times a week.
- Sunday to Thursday.
- Daytime: internal work and updates with our team.
- Evening: calls and messages with factories, suppliers and shipping agents during their day in China.
- About 20 hours a week. It can be more or less depending on how busy we are.
You must have
- Fluent English and Mandarin. You work in English with us (reading, writing and speaking) and in Mandarin with factories,
suppliers and shipping agents.
- WeChat, used daily for work.
- Experience in production or factory management, ideally furniture, upholstery or another made-to-order product.
- Experience in logistics management: international freight, shipping agents and forwarders, shipping schedules and routes.
- Strong problem solving. You stay calm when something goes wrong and find a way through.
- Firm but polite with partners. You can push a factory or agent to meet a deadline and keep the relationship good.
- Self-motivated. You keep things moving without being told.
- Organized and eager. You notice when a number or a date does not add up, and you ask rather than guess.
- Quick to learn. If you don't know a process or a tool yet, you can pick it up.
- You live in Metro Vancouver.
- Your own computer.
Nice to have
- Able to read and review product specification sheets.
- Experience with AI tools, including Claude Code.
- Customs and shipping paperwork experience.
Terms
- Independent contractor, not an employee. You invoice us for your hours and look after your own taxes (and GST if it applies). No payroll deductions or perks.
- Starts with a 90-day trial.
- You sign a non-disclosure agreement (NDA). Our partners, suppliers, sources and company processes stay confidential.
- Up to CAD 30 per hour, depending on experience.
- Room to grow: the role can grow as the business grows.
To apply, send a short note telling us about a time you sorted out a late or wrong order with a supplier: what happened, what you said to them, and how it ended.
Pay: $25.00-$30.00 per hour
Expected hours: 20.0 per week
Work Location: Hybrid remote in Vancouver, BC
