Job Description

Position purpose summary:

This position will work with both clientele and the public in our community services department of the swift current community church. This position will primarily work with the foodbank.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

The incumbent may perform all, some, or similar duties to the listed below:

For Kettle Season

- Attend a day of training/orientation on The Salvation Army and the Christmas Kettle Campaign
- Provide support in getting Kettles to zone locations prior to volunteer arrival at Campaign onset
- Ensure all Kettle donations are delivered to secure location at shift completion
- Communicate daily issues and supply deficiencies to City/Assistant Coordinator Orient and remind volunteers on proper Kettle handling and duties as required
- Supervise, support and assign (as required) Kettle Volunteers throughout the Campaign
- Participate in the recruitment of recent volunteers
- Visit locations during shift changes and intermittently
- Communicate daily with ATL partner for effective transition




- Ensure timesheets and mileage reports are submitted accurately and timely (weekly basis)
- Remain at the Kettle for the full shift (until relieved), ensuring security of donations received.
- Respond to questions/queries from potential donors regarding SA ministries and programs.
- Perform other work-related duties as assigned.

Community Ministries Worker Duties

- Assist clients with access to foodbank services
- Assist clients with access to vouchers and other TSA services as appropriate.
- Assist with other programs in Community Services (ie: summer camps registration, Christmas hampers, POH, etc…)
- Suggest new ideas for community programming
- Keep accurate and confidential records of client assistance using Link2Feed program
- Assist with collection, documentation, and submission of statistics as required by TSA, Foodbanks Canada, Second Harvest, etc…
- Support external reporting requirements
- Be available to assist during special events (Holiday Train, Food-drives, BBQ’s, Local PR events, etc…)
- Provide support as required to daily foodbank operations including receiving, sorting, handling of food donations
- Assist with proper receiving of food
