About the role
We’re looking for a Mechanical Project Manager to help plan and deliver mechanical projects from kickoff through closeout. The right person may bring a strong record of managing projects independently, or have hands-on mechanical experience and the interest to grow into project management.
We’ll shape the role around the person’s experience. An experienced PM will take ownership of projects and client relationships. Someone earlier in their career will work alongside experienced project leaders, build project management skills, and take on more responsibility over time.
What you’ll do
- Coordinate project planning, schedules, budgets, labour, materials, and equipment.
- Work with clients, consultants, general contractors, suppliers, and field teams to keep projects moving.
- Review drawings, specifications, scopes, and schedules; identify questions, risks, and changes early.
- Support estimating, procurement, submittals, change orders, progress billing, and cost tracking.
- Communicate project priorities, decisions, and updates clearly to the people involved.
- Visit job sites to understand progress, resolve issues, and coordinate upcoming work.
- Track project documentation and help ensure work meets contract requirements, quality standards, and safety expectations.
- Support commissioning, deficiencies, turnover, and closeout.
- Look for practical ways to improve coordination, service, and project results.
What you bring for an experienced PM
- Experience managing mechanical projects from award through closeout.
- A track record of coordinating project teams, schedules, costs, and client expectations.
- Confidence reviewing mechanical drawings, specifications, scopes, and change requests.
- Good judgment when priorities shift or issues need to be resolved quickly.
For someone ready to grow into the role
- A relevant mechanical background, such as work in the trades, field coordination, estimating, drafting, engineering technology, or mechanical engineering.
- A solid understanding of mechanical systems, construction workflows, or job-site operations.
- Strong organization, communication, and follow-through.
- Curiosity, sound judgment, and a willingness to learn project controls and commercial processes.
How success grows with experience
A developing PM will start by coordinating defined parts of projects, maintaining schedules and documentation, and supporting senior PMs with budgets, procurement, and client communication. With experience, they’ll take ownership of larger scopes and projects, manage client relationships, and lead work through closeout.
An experienced PM will lead projects with appropriate independence, manage project risks and financial performance, and help strengthen team and client relationships.
