Our client, a credit union, is seeking an Intermediate Accountant to join their Edmonton team on a short-term contract basis. This remote role will support year-end accounting activities, with a focus on journal entries, general ledger reconciliations, and financial data analysis.

Responsibilities:
Prepare and record manual journal entries using banking and investment-related information.
Review debit and credit postings, verify balances, and investigate discrepancies.
Complete general ledger reconciliations and assist with complex cash reconciliations.
Prepare and enter payroll-related accounting entries.
Reclassify prepaid expenses and maintain supporting month-end and year-end documentation.
Use Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations and Timberline to process and validate financial data.
Analyze exported financial data in Excel using lookups, pivot tables, macros, and linked data processes.
Learn and follow established workflows while supporting recurring accounting activities.

Requirements:
At least 3 years of accounting experience, including general ledger postings and reconciliations.
Diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Strong knowledge of journal entries, debit and credit transactions, and general ledger procedures.
Ability to investigate discrepancies and resolve out-of-balance accounts.
Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations or similar ERP systems; Timberline is an asset.
Strong Excel skills, including formulas, pivot tables, lookups, macros, and data imports/exports.




Ability to work independently in a remote environment with strong attention to detail and adaptability.
