Crown Auto Sales & Service is an AMVIC-licensed automotive facility in Southeast Calgary seeking a licensed Automotive Service Technician (Journeyperson / Red Seal) on an independent contractor / subcontractor basis.

This position offers exceptional schedule flexibility (approx. 20 to 40 hours per week). It is an ideal fit for an experienced certified tech seeking steady side hours, a semi-retired mechanic, or an independent technician who values low micromanagement, autonomous bay work, and a relaxed, collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities:

- Diagnose, service, and repair mechanical and electrical components on passenger cars, SUVs, and light-duty trucks.
- Conduct routine maintenance, brake services, steering/suspension overhauls, engine tune-ups, and fluid changes.
- Perform vehicle inspections and assist with mechanical fitness assessments in compliance with AMVIC standards.
- Provide trade qualification sign-off on shop repair orders and vehicle service files.
- Work collaboratively with shop management while maintaining a safe, efficient workspace.

Requirements & Qualifications:

- Certification:



Valid Alberta Journeyperson Automotive Service Technician Certificate or Interprovincial Red Seal (Mandatory for provincial/AMVIC compliance).
- Experience: Proven hands-on diagnostic and repair experience across domestic and import passenger vehicles.
- Tools: Personal standard mechanic hand, air, and diagnostic tools suitable for general repair. Shop tools also provided on site, including primary shop equipment, heavy tooling, and general shop tools.
- Business Structure: Must be comfortable operating as an independent contractor (GST registered or sole proprietorship).
