Cowan Litigation is a commercial litigation boutique focused on high-quality work for a select group of clients and referral partners, not high volume. Our files include shareholder and partnership disputes, contractual disputes, lease disputes, and real estate litigation, as well as construction and franchise disputes.
The role
You’ll be the primary lawyer on your files from intake through resolution. You’ll work directly with clients and run matters end to end, and you’ll have colleagues to think through strategy with, because positive litigation is rarely a solo exercise.

What we offer
- A fully remote position.
In-person attendance is needed only for court and the occasional client meeting at our Toronto or Vaughan office.
- A billable target of 1,500 hours.
- Compensation of $160,000–$200,000.
- Experienced clerk and support staff.
- Interesting, substantive commercial work.
What we’re looking for
- 5+ years of commercial litigation experience in Ontario.
- Licensed with the Law Society of Ontario, in good standing.
- Comfort running files independently, including client management, pleadings, examinations, motions, and mediation.
- Strong judgment, reliability, and attention to detail.
- Experience in construction or franchise litigation is an asset.
