ABOUT ABCO
ABCO Elevator Ltd. installs, repairs, modernizes, and maintains permanently installed elevators across Saskatchewan, Alberta, and Manitoba. We’re independent and prairie-based, with our headquarters in Regina.
Customers choose us for a long-term relationship with people who show up, tell them the truth about their equipment, and do the work right.
We share in the adventure of the build. That means our sales team isn’t handing off a signed quote and walking away—you stay connected to the customer through the work and after it.
THE ROLE
You are a hunter, and thrive on drumming up new business opportunities. You’ll own current business and grow existing accounts across the prairie provinces. Most of your week is spent in front of people: developers, property managers, building owners, facility and maintenance managers, general contractors, architects, and consultants. You’ll find the right opportunities, understand what each building needs, and work with our operations team to put together quotes that are accurate and honest about scope.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
Find and win the right work
● Build and work a pipeline of maintenance contracts, repairs, modernizations, and new
installations.
● Prospect buildings that fit our niche: owners and managers who value relationship and
quality.
● Track down upcoming construction and modernization projects through contractors,
architects, consultants, and public tenders.
● Qualify opportunities early. Say no to work that isn’t a fit for us, and explain why.
Run the sales process from first visit to signed agreement
● Walk buildings with customers and technicians to understand the equipment, its condition, and what the customer needs.
● Follow ABCO’s process: maintenance consult, work completed, report to the customer, then the quoting cycle.
● Work with operations to build quotes and proposals. Present them in person and stand
behind the numbers.
● Negotiate terms and close maintenance agreements and project work.
● Hand off cleanly to operations—scope, contacts, access,
and expectations written down.
Keep and grow customers
● Build long-lasting relationships
● Stay in regular contact with your accounts. Know their buildings, their budgets, and their
timelines.
● Lead contract renewals well before they lapse.
● Use inspection findings and service reports to raise repair and modernization needs early,
with a clear explanation of why.
● When something goes wrong, own the conversation with the customer and connect them to the right person.
Keep the numbers honest
● Log every lead, quote, and outcome in our sales tracking system the same week it
happens.
● Report pipeline, quote activity, and wins against your scorecard measures each week.
● Forecast what you expect to close and when, and flag changes early.
WHAT YOU BRING
Required
● Minimum 5+ years of outside or business-to-business sales experience, ideally in
construction, building services, mechanical, or a related trade.
● A track record of building a territory and closing service agreements and/or project work.
● Comfort reading a scope of work and learning the technical side well enough to talk with
technicians, engineers, and building owners.
● Clear writing and plain speaking. You can explain a quote to a building owner without
jargon.
● Self-direction. You manage your own calendar across three provinces and follow through
without being chased.
● A valid driver’s licence, a clean driving record, and the ability to travel regularly, including
overnights.
● Working knowledge and understanding value of a customer relationship management
(CRM) system or a spreadsheet-based pipeline, plus email and calendar tools.
Nice to have
● Elevator industry experience, or experience selling to property management and facilities
teams on the prairies.
● Familiarity with the Canadian Standards Association (CSA) elevator code, CSA B44, and the provincial regulators: the Technical Safety Authority of Saskatchewan (TSASK), the Alberta Elevating Devices and Amusement Rides Safety Association (AEDARSA), and Manitoba’s Inspection and Technical Services Branch (ITS).
● Existing relationships with developers, general contractors, architects, or property
managers in Regina, Saskatoon, Calgary, Edmonton, or Winnipeg.
● Experience responding to public tenders.
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
● First 90 days: You know our services, our process, and our key accounts. You’ve met our top customers in each province and have a working pipeline of your own.
● First year: You’re hitting your scorecard targets for new maintenance agreements,
renewals, and project quotes. Customers know you by name and call you first.
● Every week: Your pipeline is current, your quotes are accurate, and operations isn’t
surprised by anything you’ve sold.
WHAT THIS ROLE DOESN’T SELL
We focus on permanently installed elevators. We don’t sell or service escalators, dumbwaiters,
lift tables, or stairlifts. Part of the job is knowing that line and holding it.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
● Base salary plus commission. *Details will be presented during the interview process.
● Health benefits, Dental and Group RSP Matching
● Company vehicle
● Phone, laptop, and tools required to be successful
HOW WE WORK
Our values are the bar we hire to: Model the way, Inspire a shared vision, Challenge the
process, Enable others to act, and Encourage the heart. If you’d rather tell a customer the hard
truth before the quote than explain a surprise after it, you’ll fit here.
