We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Intermediate Mechanical Engineer to join our client's established engineering team.

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, this position is responsible for the design, analysis, and validation of mechanical and structural steel systems. The successful candidate will have a strong foundation in engineering principles, with the ability to independently perform calculations, verify designs mathematically, and confidently explain technical decisions. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with structural steel design, SolidWorks, Finite Element Analysis (FEA), and engineering calculations. We are looking for an individual who takes a practical, analytical approach to engineering, demonstrates genuine interest in the company's products and operations, and is seeking a stable, long-term chance within a collaborative engineering environment.

Responsibilities

- Design and develop mechanical components, structural steel systems, and assemblies using SolidWorks.
- Prepare detailed 3D models, technical drawings, and engineering documentation.
- Independently perform engineering calculations to evaluate structural integrity, load capacities, stresses, and deflection.
- Conduct structural analyses, including beam deflection, stress and strain, fatigue, shaft design, weld calculations, and tolerance analysis.
- Perform Finite Element Analysis (FEA) using SolidWorks Simulation and independently verify results through hand calculations and established engineering principles.
- Assess design feasibility, safety factors, material selection, and structural performance.
- Prepare technical reports documenting calculations, assumptions, analysis results,

and engineering recommendations.
- Clearly explain and justify engineering decisions during design reviews and technical discussions.
- Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, and operations teams to develop practical, cost-effective engineering solutions.
- Support prototype development, testing, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure designs comply with applicable engineering codes, standards, and safety requirements.
- Provide technical guidance and support to junior engineers and technical staff as required.

Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a closely related engineering discipline (BEng, BASc, or equivalent).
- Registered or eligible to register as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO).
- Demonstrated experience in mechanical design, structural steel systems, and engineering analysis.
- Strong proficiency in SolidWorks, including 3D modelling, assemblies, and technical drawing preparation.
- Experience using SolidWorks Simulation or comparable Finite Element Analysis (FEA) software.
- Strong understanding of fundamental engineering calculations, including beam deflection, stress analysis, fatigue, shaft design, and welded connections.

- Proven ability to perform hand calculations independently to verify engineering designs and simulation results.
- Ability to interpret structural loads, material properties, and mechanical design requirements.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to explain engineering calculations, assumptions, and design decisions.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while contributing effectively to a team.
- A genuine interest in understanding the company's products, manufacturing processes, and engineering applications.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Ability to wear and use required personal protective equipment (PPE).
