We are seeking a results-driven Retail Buyer to join a growing retail organization specializing in a diverse assortment of consumer products in Montreal!

This role is ideal for a commercially minded professional with strong negotiation skills, an eye for market trends, and the ability to identify products that meet customer needs while supporting sales and profitability objectives.

Working closely with suppliers and internal teams, the Retail Buyer will be responsible for managing purchasing activities, negotiating competitive pricing, coordinating purchase orders, and ensuring product availability across retail locations. The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a rapid-paced retail environment where pricing, product selection, and inventory management are key to success.

Key Responsibilities

- Manage the purchasing process from product selection and supplier negotiations through purchase order creation, order tracking, and delivery follow-up.
- Identify new products, evaluate market trends, and assess opportunities to expand and optimize the product assortment.
- Negotiate pricing, payment terms, delivery schedules, and other commercial conditions with suppliers to maximize value and profitability.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with existing suppliers while identifying and developing new sourcing opportunities.
- Monitor outstanding orders and proactively follow up with suppliers to ensure timely deliveries and resolve discrepancies or delays.
- Conduct regular store visits to evaluate product assortment, pricing, merchandising, inventory levels,



and overall market conditions.
- Gather feedback from retail locations and identify opportunities to improve product selection, availability, and sales performance.
- Analyze product performance, sales trends, and market opportunities to support purchasing decisions and optimize inventory levels.
- Monitor competitor offerings and pricing to identify opportunities to remain competitive in the market.
- Maintain accurate purchasing records, supplier information, and product documentation.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to purchasing processes, supplier performance, and inventory management.

Qualifications

- 3-5 years of experience in retail buying, purchasing, procurement, or a similar role.
- Experience within a high-volume retail, discount retail, general merchandise, or consumer goods environment is considered a strong asset.
- Proven ability to negotiate pricing and commercial terms with suppliers.
- Experience managing purchase orders, tracking deliveries, and coordinating with vendors.
- Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
- Solid analytical and problem-solving abilities, with an understanding of pricing, margins, and inventory.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and purchasing or inventory management systems.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness to travel locally to retail locations as required.
- Bilingual
