EXPERIENCED JOURNEYPERSON MARINE MECHANICAL TECHNICIAN

Inlet Marine is looking for one or two experienced journeyperson marine mechanical technicians to join our team.

Applicants must have a minimum of five years’ experience working as a journeyperson marine mechanical technician. These are experienced positions, not apprenticeship or entry-level openings.

THE WORK

- Diagnose, service and repair marine engines, drivetrains and related mechanical and electrical systems.
- Work independently and as part of our team, both in the shop and at customer vessels.
- Use service manuals, factory diagnostic software and specialized tools to identify faults and verify repairs.
- Clearly document troubleshooting steps, completed work, outstanding issues and recommendations.
- Communicate findings and additional service needs to service staff and customers.
- Maintain safe work practices and a clean, organized work area.
- Share your knowledge with teammates and continue developing your skills through factory training.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

- Journeyperson qualification and at least five years’ experience working as a journeyperson marine mechanical technician.
- Diesel and gasoline inboard and sterndrive/inboard-outboard experience is a primary asset.
- Mercury outboard service, diagnostic and repair experience is highly valued.




- Mercury or Volvo Penta factory training is a key asset.
- Strong mechanical and electrical diagnostic skills.
- Confidence using computers, diagnostic software and technical service information.
- Ability to work independently, support teammates and communicate professionally.
- A full selection of standard mechanics’ hand tools.
