HOUSEKEEPER/LAUNDRY AIDE

Better Living at Thompson House, part of the Better Living family of organizations, has an opening for the position of Housekeeper/Laundry Aide. The ideal candidate will perform a variety of cleaning and housekeeping tasks and assist with laundry to help ensure resident care and safety.

This position reports to: Environmental Services Supervisor

The Successful Candidate for this Position Must Have the Following Qualifications:

· Minimum 6 months of cleaning, housekeeping and laundry experience

· Ability to communicate verbally and writing in English

· Ability to perform repetitive lifting 30-40 lbs · Ability to use all heavy duty floor cleaning equipment

The Successful Candidate for this Position Must be able to:

· Perform general cleaning, glass cleaning, high dusting

· Clean washrooms, kitchen and other areas as assigned

· Mop and clean all general service areas and recreation room including floors and surrounding area

· Care for hard surface floors including sweeping, washing, buffing, polishing, stripping and waxing in a commercial setting

· Care for carpet floors throughout the building including vacuuming, spot cleaning, shampooing and extraction

· Move and setup of furniture, fixtures and equipment throughout the building

· Carry out minor repairs to furniture, fixtures etc.

· Replace light bulbs and lamps

· Maintain linen and incontinent product quotas for Thompson House

· Inspect all linens and incontinent products for quality standards and remove any articles with excessive wear, staining and/or other defects

· Collect, distribute, launder and label resident personal belongings

· Maintain all laundry equipment as per manufacturers’ directions for daily use, and ensure removal of all lint accumulations

· Perform snow and ice removal as required

· Prioritize work related duties

· Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills

· Work indoors

SALARY: As per the collective agreement with SEIU
