We are looking for an experienced and reliable Lead Cabinet Maker / Shop Lead to join our custom cabinetry and architectural millwork shop.

This is a hands-on position for someone with solid cabinet-making experience who can also help coordinate daily activities on the shop floor, guide other cabinet makers, and maintain good communication between the production team and management.

The ideal candidate is a skilled cabinet maker who takes pride in their work, pays attention to detail, and is comfortable providing basic direction and assistance to other shop employees.

This is not an entry-level position, but it is also not a full shop management role. Production planning, major decisions, and overall shop supervision will remain with management.

Key Responsibilities

- Build and assemble custom cabinetry and architectural millwork according to shop drawings.
- Work with various materials, including melamine, MDF, plywood, laminates, and cabinet hardware.
- Ensure accurate measurements, proper assembly, and quality workmanship.
- Assist with operating woodworking machinery and equipment.
- Identify and report manufacturing errors or potential production issues.

Shop Coordination & Team Support

- Help coordinate daily tasks and workflow among shop employees.
- Monitor ongoing work to ensure proper procedures and quality standards are followed.
- Provide basic technical advice and assistance to other cabinet makers when needed.
- Help less-experienced employees with assembly methods, construction details, and general shop practices.
- Communicate questions, concerns, material shortages,

and production issues to management.
- Keep management informed about work progress and potential delays.
- Confirm major decisions, changes, and technical issues with management before proceeding.
- Help maintain an organized, clean, safe, and productive shop environment.

Requirements

- Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in cabinet making or architectural millwork.
- Good knowledge of cabinet construction, assembly methods, and woodworking materials.
- Ability to read and understand shop drawings and production instructions.
- Experience using common woodworking machinery and shop equipment.
- Good understanding of cabinet hardware and installation methods.
- Ability to work independently and assist other employees when necessary.
- Good communication and organizational skills.
- Strong attention to detail and quality.
- Reliable, responsible, and able to work well with a team.
- Willingness to take initiative while following management direction.

Previous supervisory experience is an asset but not required.

Additional Skills — Assets, Not Requirements

- Experience operating CNC routers.
- Familiarity with Mozaik cabinet manufacturing software.
- Knowledge of VCarve Pro.
- Experience with commercial architectural millwork.
- Familiarity with BLUM hardware and other modern cabinet systems.

Training and guidance can be provided for company-specific equipment and procedures.

What We're Looking For

We are looking for someone who can be a dependable and experienced presence on the shop floor.

The right candidate should be comfortable working alongside other cabinet makers, answering basic questions, checking workmanship, and helping keep daily production running smoothly.

You do not need to manage the entire shop or make major production decisions independently. However, you should be able to recognize potential problems, communicate them clearly, and help ensure work is completed correctly.

This position is ideal for an experienced cabinet maker who is ready to take on some additional responsibility without moving into a full management role.
