About Us

Nortkan Group Inc. is a leader in plastics and blow molding solutions, delivering innovative products to global customers. With operations in Canada and Mexico, we pride ourselves on engineering excellence, precision manufacturing, and strong partnerships. We are expanding our team and seeking a skilled CAD Designer to support our growing pipeline of tooling and product design projects.

Role Overview

As a CAD Designer at Nortkan, your primary focus will be on tooling design—developing molds, trim fixtures, and related equipment—while also contributing to product design for blow-molded plastic components. Working in Siemens NX and AutoCAD, you’ll collaborate closely with engineering, project management, and manufacturing teams to deliver accurate, cost-effective, and manufacturable designs that meet customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities

· Develop and refine 3D CAD models and 2D drawings for blow-mold tooling, including molds, trim fixtures, and related equipment, using Siemens NX and AutoCAD.

· Support tooling design as the primary responsibility, with additional involvement in product design for blow-molded plastic components.

· Translate customer requirements and engineering concepts into accurate, manufacturable tooling solutions.

· Apply Design for Manufacturability (DFM) principles to ensure tooling designs are efficient, cost-effective, and production-ready.

· Prepare and maintain detailed drawings, BOMs, and documentation in line with company and customer standards.

· Participate in design reviews, feasibility studies, and tooling optimization for new and existing programs.

· Collaborate with engineering, project management, and production teams to ensure tooling meets performance, quality, and timeline targets.

· Contribute ideas to improve tooling performance, reduce costs, and streamline manufacturing processes.

Qualifications

· Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Industrial Design, or related field.

· 2+ years of CAD design experience in a manufacturing setting (blow molding experience preferred).

· Proficiency with Siemens NX and AutoCAD.

· Robust understanding of GD&T;, DFM/DFA principles, and plastic part/tooling design.

· Knowledge of blow molding or injection molding processes is a strong advantage.

· Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities.

· Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.

Why Join Nortkan?

· Be part of a growing, innovative company with international reach.

· Cooperative team culture where your ideas and expertise make an impact.

· Opportunities for career growth within engineering, project management, and operations.

· Competitive salary and benefits package.
