Job description
Medical Office Assistant - Receptionist
Job Title: Medical Office Assistant (Back Office)
Location: Downtown Edmonton (11104 102 Ave NW)
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $22.00 – $25.00 per hour (based on experience)
Are you the person who keeps a busy clinic running smoothly behind the scenes?
Alberta ENT Consultants is looking for a high-energy, detail-oriented Medical Office Assistant to join our very busy downtown clinic. This isn't a quiet, sit-in-the-corner role. We're looking for someone who thrives at a fast pace, takes initiative without being asked, and genuinely loves being part of a team that keeps patients moving through their care.
If you can juggle referrals, phone calls, and physician support with a smile — and still pitch in wherever needed — we want to meet you.
This role is more than just paperwork.
As our Back Office MOA, you’ll work closely with one of our ENT physicians to process a high volume of referrals, book and coordinate patient appointments, and keep the clinical side of the office running efficiently. You'll be the person the team relies on to stay organized, stay ahead, and stay positive.
What you'll be doing:
- Referral & Scheduling: Process incoming referrals, book patients, and coordinate appointments for a high-volume ENT practice.
- Phone & Admin: Manage a heavy volume of calls, create patient invoices, and handle administrative tasks accurately.
The personality we're looking for:
We can teach you our systems. What we can't teach is energy, reliability, and a team-first attitude. You might be a great fit if you:
- Are naturally energetic, bubbly, and outgoing — even on busy days.
- Love being part of a team and jump in to help without being asked.
- Can multitask like a pro and keep your cool when the phones won't stop ringing.
- Have strong computer skills and a sharp eye for detail.
- Take pride in a professional appearance and a presentable, organized workspace.
- Are dependable, coachable, and eager to learn and grow with the company.
Do you need healthcare experience?
A Medical Office Assistant and/or Medical Transcriptionist diploma is preferred. EMR experience is an asset, and Telus CHR experience is a strong plus. English language proficiency is required. A valid Driver's License is preferred.
But personality matters most — if you come from a fast-paced customer service, retail, or hospitality background and are ready to learn, we will train the right person.
Why join us?
- Competitive starting wages based on experience
- Perks after 3 months (extended health care, paid time off)
- No weekends, no stat holidays
- Monday to Friday, 8-hour shifts (8 AM – 4 PM) or stay until the last patient is done seeing.
- The opportunity to be part of a dedicated, growing healthcare team
