Job title: Experienced Craft Bartender / Server (30 to 40 Hours a Week, Casual Also an Option)

The Village Taphouse is looking for a seasoned bartender/server who is ready to make a real home behind our bar. This is a role for someone who has built a career in hospitality, who takes pride in running a smooth shift, and who wants their experience to count for something. The right person will have the opportunity to take on more responsibility over time, grow into a bigger title, and earn more as they do. Our team has been with us for years, so openings like this don’t come up often.

The position is 30 to 40 hours a week, and casual or on-call shifts are also an option if that’s a better fit for you. You must currently be living in HRM, Nova Scotia.

Start date: November 10th. We'll schedule 3 to 4 training shifts before then, in the evenings or on a weekend, so you're confident and ready to go.

The role
Our Craft Bartenders are specialists behind the bar! With extensive in-house training and knowledge of all the local Atlantic Canadian breweries, wineries,



cideries and distilleries, you will assess customers' needs and preferences and make beverage recommendations. You are the face and personality of the bar.

Responsibilities

- Check customers' identification and confirm it meets the legal drinking age
- Interact with customers, take orders and sell snacks
- Assess customers' needs and preferences and make recommendations
- Prepare alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages for patrons
- Handle cash transactions accurately and operate the cash register
- Restock and replenish bar inventory and supplies
- Keep the bar, tables, floors and bathrooms clean and organized
- Stay guest focused and nurture an excellent guest experience
- Work with the team to keep every shift running smoothly
- Comply with all food and beverage regulations, safety and sanitation requirements

Qualifications

- Be 19 years of age or older
- Proven experience as a bartender (2 years minimum at a bar)
- An appreciation for craft beer and other local alcoholic beverages
- Positive attitude and excellent communication skills
- Strong hospitality skills and excellent time management
- Able to work in a standing position for extended periods (up to 9 hours)
- Able to have fun and make every guest want to return

Job type: Part-time (30 to 40 hours per week) or Casual
Pay: Hourly wage plus tips
