Position Overview

We are seeking a reliable, responsible, and safety-conscious School Bus Driver to transport students safely to and from school and school-related activities.

The successful candidate will ensure students arrive safely and on time, maintain appropriate behaviour on the bus, and comply with all applicable traffic laws and transportation safety regulations. The role requires punctuality, patience, sound judgment, and a strong commitment to student safety.

Key Responsibilities

- Safely transport students between designated pick-up and drop-off locations, school, and school-related activities.
- Follow assigned routes and schedules, ensuring timely and safe transportation.
- Ensure students board and exit the bus safely and follow established safety procedures.
- Maintain a respectful and orderly environment on the bus.
- Conduct required pre-trip and post-trip inspections and promptly report vehicle defects or maintenance concerns.
- Maintain accurate records of routes, mileage, inspections, and incidents as required.
- Report student behaviour concerns, delays, accidents,



and safety issues to school Bus Manager.
- Follow established emergency procedures and adjust driving practices to changing road and weather conditions.
- Maintain qualified communication with school staff and parents or guardians when required.
- Keep the bus clean and ensure it remains in safe operating condition.

Qualifications

- Valid Class 1 Alberta driver's licence
- Compliance with applicable Alberta school bus driver qualification requirements.
- Satisfactory driver's abstract.
- Knowledge of traffic laws and school bus safety procedures.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage student behaviour calmly and respectfully.
- Demonstrated reliability, punctuality, and professionalism.
- Ability to respond appropriately to emergencies and unexpected situations.
- Previous experience transporting children is an asset.

Pre-Employment Requirements

- Provide a satisfactory driver's abstract.
- Provide a current Criminal Record Check, including a Vulnerable Sector Check, as required by the school.
- Meet all applicable provincial requirements for operating a school bus and transporting students.
- Provide any additional documentation required to verify qualifications and eligibility for the position.

Working Conditions

- Early morning and afternoon working hours based on assigned routes and schedules.
- Driving in varying weather, traffic, and road conditions.
- Regular interaction with students, parents or guardians, and school staff.
- Responsibility for student safety throughout transportation.
