Bluenose Animal Hospital is looking for a Veterinary Assistant to join our growing team!

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone who is friendly, dependable, organized, compassionate, and comfortable wearing many hats throughout the day. This is a varied role that combines hands-on animal care with front desk and client service responsibilities. You’ll play an important part in creating a positive experience for our clients while helping our clinical team provide excellent care to their pets.

The ideal candidate enjoys interacting with people, thrives in a team environment, and is willing to jump in wherever needed. Veterinary or animal care experience is an asset,



as is previous customer service or receptionist experience.

What the Role Involves

Client Service & Front Desk

- Greeting clients and their pets and helping create a welcoming clinic experience
- Answering phones, responding to client inquiries, and assisting with appointment scheduling
- Checking clients in and out and helping coordinate the flow of appointments
- Communicating with clients in a friendly, professional, and compassionate manner
- Assisting with payments, invoicing, and other front desk tasks
- Helping keep the reception area organized and ensuring clients feel supported throughout their visit

Veterinary Assistant & Patient Care

- Assisting veterinarians and veterinary technicians with appointments, treatments, and patient care
- Handling and restraining animals safely and compassionately, as appropriate to training and experience
- Preparing exam rooms and helping maintain a clean, organized clinic
- Assisting with daily clinical tasks and supporting the team wherever needed

Above all, we’re looking for a team player who understands that excellent veterinary care extends beyond the exam room. From welcoming a nervous pet owner at the front desk to helping care for a patient in the treatment area, every part of this role contributes to the experience we provide.

Position Details

We are currently looking to fill a part-time position, with flexibility in scheduling for the right candidate. However, we are absolutely open to discussing a full-time position for an exceptional applicant who would be a great fit for our team.
