Medicine Hat College is welcoming internal applications for a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in the School of Trades & Technology.

A little about the role:

Medicine Hat College is seeking a qualified Subject Matter Expert to support the development of curriculum and learning materials for a Heavy Equipment Technician Period 1 Pre-Employment program.

Scope of Work:

Working collaboratively with MHC instructional design staff, the SME will work collaboratively with instructional designers and college personnel to develop engaging, industry-relevant curriculum and shop exercises aligned with Alberta apprenticeship outcomes and industry standards. The resulting course materials will support learners in acquiring the foundational knowledge, skills, and safety practices required for entry into the Heavy Equipment Technician trade.

Details:

As a successful applicant you'll have:

- Alberta Journeyperson Certification in Heavy Equipment Technician or an equivalent interprovincial Red Seal credential.
- Recent industry experience in the heavy equipment sector, including diagnosis, maintenance, and repair of heavy equipment systems.
- Strong knowledge of Alberta apprenticeship training requirements and trade competencies.
- Experience teaching,



mentoring apprentices, developing training, or creating technical learning materials is considered an asset.
- Solid written communication skills
- Experience teaching or developing curriculum in a post-secondary, industry training, or adult learning

Terms of Employment

Term of Appointment: ASAP - March 15, 2027

Compensation: $7,200 gross for the Full Term
