Experienced Driver/Guide – Canadian Rockies | Banff, Yoho and Jasper National Parks

Full-Time Seasonal Position: April 1 – October 15, 2027

Pay: $275–$350 per day, depending on experience and qualifications

- Do You Love the Canadian Rockies as Much as We Do?
- Do you know the difference between a Steller's Jay and a Gray Jay? Can you tell a great story about the history of Banff? Do you know the best places to spot wildlife, capture an incredible photograph, or escape the crowds?
- Most importantly, do you genuinely enjoy sharing your knowledge and enthusiasm with visitors from around the world?

If so, we'd love to meet you!

Canada Rail Vacations and Alberta Blue Sky Tours are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic, and professional Driver/Guides to join our team for the 2027 summer travel season. We've been introducing visitors to the beauty of Canada since 1995, and we're proud of the incredible experiences our guides deliver every day. Our guests come from around the world, often on once-in-a-lifetime vacations. We're looking for someone who understands that being a great guide means doing much more than driving from one beautiful location to another. It's about storytelling, hospitality, local knowledge, professionalism, and creating memories that last a lifetime. And yes, sometimes it's about knowing exactly where to find that elusive moose!

Who We're Looking For

We're looking for an experienced Rockies guide who knows these mountains, loves being outdoors, and genuinely enjoys working with people.

This is a full-time seasonal position running from April 1 through October 15, 2027.

Our ideal candidate:

- Lives in Canmore, Banff, or the Bow Valley, or is prepared to relocate to the area for the season. Paid staff accommodation is available to the right candidate.
- Holds a valid minimum Class 4 driver's licence and has an excellent driving record.
- Has previous qualified guiding experience in the Canadian Rockies, particularly Banff, Jasper and Yoho National Parks.
- Knows the region exceptionally well, including Banff, Lake Louise, Moraine Lake, Yoho National Park, and the Icefields Parkway.
- Is comfortable driving passenger vans safely and professionally in all mountain conditions.
- Has excellent English communication skills and genuinely enjoys speaking with guests.
- Is a confident storyteller who can bring the history, wildlife, geology, and culture of the Canadian Rockies to life.
- Has a warm, friendly personality and a natural ability to make guests feel welcome.
- Is reliable, organized, punctual, and able to work independently.

- Understands the importance of safety, professionalism, and exceptional customer service.
- Is comfortable with early starts, long days, and a flexible schedule.
- IGA accreditation is strongly preferred, and additional language skills in German are a welcome asset!

What You'll Be Doing

As one of our Driver/Guides, you'll be responsible for delivering exceptional sightseeing experiences throughout the Canadian Rockies.

Your days will include:

- Guiding private and small-group sightseeing tours throughout Banff, Yoho, and Jasper National Parks.
- Sharing fascinating stories about the Rockies, including local history, wildlife, geology, and the people who helped shape this incredible region.
- Providing safe, comfortable, and professional transportation for our guests.
- Leading tours to iconic destinations such as Lake Louise, Moraine Lake, Emerald Lake, and the Columbia Icefield.
- Helping guests discover hidden gems and special places they might never find on their own.
- Assisting guests with photographs, sightseeing stops, and recommendations.
- Maintaining the cleanliness and professional presentation of your assigned vehicle.
- Communicating with our operations team to ensure tours run smoothly.
- Providing thoughtful, personalized service to travellers from around the world.
- Above all, you'll be an ambassador for Alberta Blue Sky Tours and Canada Rail Vacations.

We want our guests to finish their day feeling like they've spent time with a knowledgeable local friend, not simply taken a bus tour.

Experience Matters!

We take great pride in the quality of our guides and the experiences we deliver.

For this position, previous professional guiding experience in the Canadian Rockies is strongly recommended. We're willing to train the right person though. We're not looking for someone who simply enjoys hiking or has visited Banff a few times. We're looking for someone who knows the region, understands the responsibilities of guiding paying guests, and can confidently deliver a professional tour. Because this is a seasonal position with a busy operating schedule, training will focus primarily on our company procedures, vehicles, and tour standards.

You'll need to arrive with the guiding knowledge and experience necessary to get started quickly.

What We Offer

- A modern fleet of comfortable passenger vans.
- A supportive and experienced operations team.
