$120,000 CAD per year About symplistic.ai symplistic.ai is a fast-growing enterprise AI company with offices in Florida and the Greater Toronto Area. We specialize in agentic AI, enterprise products, and consulting, building intelligent systems for real-world business challenges. We deliver production AI for major enterprises across financial services, retail, hospitality, manufacturing, healthcare, government, and more. Our high-velocity startup values ownership, execution, accountability, collaboration, and moving ideas into production. About ContentIQ ContentIQ is our enterprise AI knowledge and retrieval platform, securely connecting websites, documents, SharePoint, OneDrive, internal systems, and other sources to AI agents. It combines enterprise search, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), AI document processing, governance, permissions, integrations, and observability for accurate, grounded AI at scale. As a knowledge layer for IBM watsonx Orchestrate and other AI agents, it connects enterprise information to intelligent workflows and conversations. Role Overview We are seeking a hands-on Software Engineering Team Lead to help develop, enhance, and maintain ContentIQ while providing day-to-day technical leadership to our engineering team. Reporting directly to the Engineering Manager, who reports to the VP of Engineering, you will guide engineers through implementation, actively write production code, review technical solutions, and ensure features are delivered with high standards of quality, performance, and reliability. You will work closely with the Engineering Manager to execute development priorities, resolve technical challenges, improve engineering practices, and support enterprise deployments. You will also help improve ContentIQ's AI capabilities, including document ingestion, enterprise search, RAG pipelines, retrieval accuracy, integrations, and production reliability. This is a hands-on technical leadership role, not a management-only position. You will spend significant time coding, reviewing pull requests, debugging applications, and solving engineering problems while helping other developers succeed.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide day-to-day technical guidance to engineers developing and maintaining ContentIQ.
- Work with the Engineering Manager to execute sprint priorities, development tasks, and technical deliverables.
- Break down requirements into actionable development tasks and help coordinate implementation.
- Mentor engineers, conduct code reviews, troubleshoot blockers, and promote engineering best practices.
- Ensure development work meets agreed quality, performance, security, and delivery standards.
- Communicate technical progress, dependencies, challenges, and risks to the Engineering Manager. Hands-On Software Development
- Actively design, develop, test, and maintain production software using Python, React, and modern software technologies.
- Build backend services, REST APIs, frontend components, and enterprise integrations.
- Develop and enhance RAG pipelines, document ingestion, semantic search, retrieval systems, and AI agent integrations.
- Implement new ContentIQ capabilities and improve existing functionality, performance, and scalability.
- Debug complex application issues, optimize code, and implement sustainable technical solutions.
- Contribute to technical design decisions, reusable components, development standards,

and software architecture. Product Quality, Testing & Reliability
- Help maintain ContentIQ's code quality, stability, maintainability, and production readiness.
- Conduct code reviews and support automated, regression, integration, and end-to-end testing.
- Identify and resolve software defects, performance bottlenecks, and reliability issues.
- Improve AI accuracy, retrieval relevance, response grounding, citation quality, and consistency.
- Troubleshoot ingestion failures, retrieval issues, hallucinations, API errors, and integration problems.

- Support enterprise customer implementations, deployments, configurations, and integrations.
- Investigate and resolve technical issues affecting customer environments and production applications.
- Troubleshoot APIs, document processing, authentication, permissions, retrieval, and enterprise data connections.
- Collaborate with the Engineering Manager and customer-facing teams to resolve issues efficiently.
- Identify recurring problems and contribute improvements to product functionality, reliability, and documentation. AI Platform & Architecture Development
- Contribute to ContentIQ's architecture and ongoing platform development.
- Build and improve enterprise search, document intelligence, RAG, semantic retrieval, and data integration capabilities.
- Support integrations with IBM watsonx, watsonx Orchestrate, and other enterprise AI technologies.
- Evaluate technical approaches and recommend improvements to the Engineering Manager.
- Balance development speed with software quality, technical debt, security, and maintainability.
- Help take features from initial development through testing, deployment, and production support. QualificationsRequired
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 4–8 years of professional software engineering experience, with strong hands-on development skills.
