Erin Trailside Veterinary Services (ETVS) is a privately owned small animal practice located in Erin, ON, (approximately 20 minutes north of Brampton). We have a great team who take a lot of pride in their work practicing progressive medicine along with gentle and respectful handling of our patients. We are looking for a full-time Veterinary Assistant/Receptionist to join our team who is friendly, loves multi-tasking, is easy-going and loves interacting with clients. Being a team player and being able to work independently are equally important. Previous experience in a Veterinary Clinic or completion of a course in Animal Care are mandatory requirements for this role. Being comfortable with animal handling and restraint as well as being familiar with a fear-free approach is necessary for this role. Job Overview The Veterinary Assistant/Receptionist supports daily clinic operations by helping clients navigate visits and assisting the veterinary team with patient care. This diverse role combines front-desk service, organization, and hands-on support in a collaborative setting. We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic and customer service oriented with excellent communication skills and a robust command of the English language both written and oral. Responsibilities
- Welcome clients, answer questions, schedule appointments, and maintain accurate patient and client records.
- Assisting in handling animals as instructed by the Veterinarians or Technicians so they may examine, provide treatment, take samples or administer treatments to a patient
- Help keep work areas and supplies organized, and support smooth transitions between appointments.
- Various cleaning, stocking, and inventory duties throughout the hospital
- Husbandry duties such as feeding and walking patients as well as and cleaning cages
- Surgical instrumentation preparation and sterilization
- Assisting with receiving orders by unpacking medical and food supplies
- Assisting at the front desk with regular clerical duties such as POS transactions,



booking appointments, and directing client questions to the appropriate team member. Qualifications
- Graduation from an Animal Care / Veterinary Assistant Program or hands on experience in a Veterinary setting is required for this position.
- Clear communication, patience, accurate recordkeeping, basic computer skills, and the ability to stay organized while supporting clients and the veterinary team.
- Attention to detail and a calm, helpful approach to support safe, efficient daily clinic work.
- Have the physical strength and ability to lift up to 45lbs unassisted
- Have the physical strength and ability to stand for an entire shift when needed.
- Have the physical strength and ability to sit, crouch, bend, and kneel when needed
