About The Role

We are seeking a Junior Backend Developer to join our growing technology group in Waipahu. This role is suited to a developer with approximately one year of relevant experience who is ready to contribute to production systems, learn from experienced teammates, and take increasing ownership of backend work. You will help maintain and improve a microservices-based technology environment, write and test application code, and collaborate with product and design colleagues to deliver features from planning through release.

Reliability is an important part of the role. You will help the team prepare services for periods of increased demand, including seasonal and holiday traffic, and work to ensure that staging environments behave consistently with production. The position offers an annual salary range of $74,000 to $116,000, depending on relevant experience, skills, and qualifications. Flexible schedule and mentorship are available to support your development and help you do your best work.

Qualifications

Applicants should have approximately one year of experience in backend development, software engineering, or a related role, along with practical familiarity with Nginx. You should understand core software development practices and be comfortable writing clean, maintainable code and tests. Experience with microservices, Jest configuration, and unit testing is valuable. Familiarity with MongoDB is an advantage, but it is not required.

Responsibilities

Contribute to the day-to-day operation and improvement of backend services, including the company’s microservices environment. Develop, review, and maintain features that meet product requirements and fit the needs of a growing user base. Write clean, well-tested code and use unit testing practices to help protect the quality of application changes. Support and improve Jest configurations across environments so staging remains aligned with production.

Help monitor and prepare services for higher traffic, investigate bottlenecks, and share practical recommendations for performance and architectural improvements. Work with product and design teams to plan, build, test, and ship features end to end. Participate in technical discussions and contribute thoughtful suggestions.

As you gain experience, help newer junior teammates understand team workflows, testing practices, and how services are connected. Keep colleagues informed about progress, risks, and technical issues.
