Nurse Practitioner (NP)

Location: Little Current, ON
Payrate: $60/hour

Job Summary

We are seeking a Primary Health Care Nurse Practitioner to provide comprehensive, culturally secure primary care to individuals and families across the lifespan. The role includes diagnosing and treating illnesses, managing chronic conditions, promoting disease prevention, and delivering holistic care that integrates traditional Indigenous and Western healing practices.

Key Responsibilities
Assess, diagnose, and treat patients within the full NP scope of practice.
Order and interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe treatments, perform minor procedures, and refer patients to specialists as required.
Manage chronic illnesses and provide patient counselling, education, and follow-up care.
Develop client-centred care plans and promote health and disease prevention.
Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams and community partners.
Maintain accurate electronic medical records and participate in quality improvement initiatives.

Mandatory Requirements
Bachelor of Science in Nursing.




Nurse Practitioner Certificate in Primary Health Care from an accredited program.
Current, unrestricted registration in the Extended Class with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
Current CPR Level C and First Aid certification.
Valid Ontario Class G driver's licence, transparent driving record, and access to a reliable vehicle.
Clear Police Vulnerable Sector Check.

Preferred Qualifications
3–5 years of Nurse Practitioner experience in primary care.
Experience in community healthcare and working with First Nations populations.
Knowledge of Indigenous health issues, Anishinabek culture, and EMR systems.

Advantages and Working Conditions
Transportation and accommodation expenses will be fully covered.
Frequent travel across Manitoulin Island, including community visits and home visits.
Occasional after-hours work may be required.
Work in community clinics and health centres, with potential exposure to infectious diseases and clinical hazards.

Pay: $60.00 per hour
