Use building code expertise to review permits for the Columbia Shuswap Regional District, working Monday to Friday in Salmon Arm, BC. Provide direction to clients.

The CSRD seeks a permanent full-time Plan Checker I under the Manager, Building and Bylaw Services. This position reviews applications, plans, and specifications connected with building inspections and permits. You will advise external clients on the CSRD Building Bylaw, Part 9 of the BC Building Code, and the Building Act. Collaboration with Development Services staff supports consistent, productive reviews.

Key Responsibilities:

- Coordinate permit plans and accompanying building specifications
- Check drawings against applicable bylaws and codes




- Examine applications connected with building inspections
- Advise external clients on CSRD building requirements
- Collaborate with Development Services staff during reviews

Requirements:

- Diploma in Building Technology or related discipline
- Grade 12 or equivalent education
- Construction experience, preferably carpentry or mechanical trades
- Qualified Level 1 Building exams completed successfully
- Valid BC Driver's License
