Our client is looking for an experienced Governance & Controls Consultant to support HR governance, risk assessments, control testing, compliance, and process documentation. The ideal candidate has robust HR controls experience and stakeholder management skills, with exposure to large-scale projects such as Workday implementation. Contract: 6 months, with potential for extension or FTE conversion

Location:
Toronto – Hybrid (Every Monday and the first Friday of each month onsite)

Key Responsibilities

- Support governance, risk, and controls activities within HR.
- Conduct control assessments and testing to identify gaps and recommend improvements.
- Develop and maintain HR process documentation and control procedures.
- Support control assessments for the Workday transition project.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies, audit requirements, and regulatory standards.
- Collaborate with HR teams and business stakeholders on control effectiveness and remediation. Must-Have Skills
- 5+ years of experience in Governance, Risk & Controls, preferably within HR.




- Strong knowledge of operational controls and regulatory compliance.
- Experience with HR processes, including payroll or recruitment cycles.
- 2+ years of experience in HR process documentation.
- 3+ years of experience in banking or large, complex organizations.
- Strong stakeholder management, communication, and analytical skills. Nice to Have
- Experience supporting Workday implementation or transition projects.
- Experience supporting internal audits, regulatory reviews, and control remediation.
- Familiarity with control frameworks, risk taxonomies, and control management methodologies.
- Experience working with HR governance teams in large banking or financial services organizations.
