Support professional theatre production at Vertigo Theatre in Calgary through technical direction, lighting, sound, projection, and special effects. This is a full-time, 46-week contract.

The Assistant Technical Director works with the core production team and reports to the Technical Director and Production and Facility Manager. Responsibilities span costing, construction drawings, technical builds, tech week, show notes, facilities upkeep, crew supervision, and workplace safety. The position supports Vertigo Theatre’s mystery-focused programming.

Key Responsibilities:

- Assist production costing and construction drawings
- Build special effects and electrical devices
- Work on productions during tech week
- Complete show notes during production runs




- Supervise casual crews and support facilities upkeep

Requirements:

- Degree in Technical Theatre and two years’ qualified experience
- Knowledge of theatre production, lighting, sound, projection, and effects
- Carpentry, troubleshooting, and creative problem-solving skills
- Comfort working at heights and with power tools
- Ability to lift 50 pounds and hold a Class 5 licence
