The Opportunity

Are you passionate about creating exceptional dining experiences for seniors? As a Food Service Manager at Chartwell, you will lead a dedicated team to deliver high-quality meals and outstanding service. In this role, you'll be responsible for overseeing food services operations, menu planning, team management, and compliance with food safety standards - to ensure our residents enjoy every meal in a warm and welcoming environment.

What You'll Do

- Lead the planning and execution of daily and special event menus that meet individual dietary needs

- Foster strong relationships with residents and families to enhance satisfaction and resolve concerns

- Supervise and develop food services staff, including hiring, training, and performance management

- Prepare and manage departmental budgets, optimize purchasing, and monitor food and labour costs

- Ensure compliance with Chartwell's policies and relevant provincial and health regulations

- Collaborate with suppliers and corporate partners to maintain high standards of food service

- Serve as a key member of the management team, contributing to strategic decisions and operational success

- Rotate as the Manager on Duty for weekend coverage as needed

What You'll Bring

- Minimum two years of supervisory experience in food service (retirement, healthcare, or hospitality)

- At least one year of front-of-house and customer service experience





- Post-secondary diploma in Food & Beverage Management or equivalent; chef qualifications and Food Service Supervisor certification preferred

- Strong leadership, communication, and conflict resolution skills

- Highly organized with strong time management abilities

- Experience with budgeting, purchasing, and scheduling

- Computer literate, including Microsoft Word and Excel

- Knowledge of food safety regulations, special diets, and local suppliers is an asset

- Familiarity with the local community and supplier networks is beneficial

- Valid Driver's License, or reliable means of transportation

Additional Requirements

- Ability to work flexible hours including some evenings and weekends

- Must be prepared to respond to emergency situations

- Some local travel may be required

- Comfort using AI and other digital platform systems and tools to support daily work

- Explicit Criminal Background Check, VSS and TB Test where required
