Your Responsibilities
You’ll develop and implement a strategic communications and engagement plan that connects internal teams, community members, partners and funders to organizational priorities.
You’ll create audience‑specific messaging, presentations, communication frameworks and practical tools to support consistent engagement.
You’ll lead public‑facing communications for a complex community health initiative, showcasing progress, outcomes and impact through compelling storytelling.
You’ll develop accessible, equity‑informed content across digital, social media, website, community and media channels while maintaining brand alignment.
You’ll navigate sensitive issues and political considerations with sound judgment, cultural awareness and a thoughtful approach to risk.
You’ll establish meaningful measures to evaluate communications reach, engagement and effectiveness.
Skills and Qualifications
Senior‑level experience developing and executing strategic communications, engagement plans and content strategies in complex environments.
Demonstrated expertise in equity‑centred, trauma‑informed communications, anti‑racism, anti‑oppression and Indigenous cultural safety.
Exceptional plain‑language writing, storytelling and content development skills, including familiarity with AODA accessibility requirements.
Strong project management, change communications,
issues management and communications evaluation capabilities.
Proven ability to engage diverse audiences, navigate political sensitivities and translate complex information into clear, actionable messaging.
Experience in Ontario's nonprofit, community health, healthcare, mental health, addictions or housing sectors is strongly preferred, along with exposure to government‑funded initiatives and media relations.
Ability to work independently, recommend realistic project scopes and timelines, and deliver both strategic direction and practical communications materials.
