The successful Family Practitioner provides direct care at Withdrawal Management Services-South Island. Responsibilities include assessing patients, managing withdrawal, handling medications, and addressing medical conditions. The physician consults with family physicians, emergency rooms, psychiatrists, hospitalists, and psychiatric emergency services.
Key Responsibilities: Provide Addiction Medicine services for medical withdrawal
Conduct daily medical rounds in the inpatient unit
Assess patients and manage withdrawal symptoms
Manage medications and ongoing medical conditions
Provide after-hours telephone call coverage
Requirements: Family Practitioner qualification
Clinical faculty appointment at UBC
Willingness to teach medical students and residents
Availability six to seven and a half hours daily
Availability seven days per week
Support supervised medical detoxification in Victoria through Addiction Medicine, direct patient care, consultation, and medical education.
