Operate road-maintenance equipment for the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo in Fort McMurray on rotating 12-hour shifts. Apply protected equipment handling and maintenance skills.
This temporary full-time Light Equipment Operator works in Public Works, Roads, under general supervision. The position supports year-round operations through equipment operation, minor repairs, inspections, traffic control, and general labour. Assigned equipment may include tandem trucks, loaders, water trucks, graders, rollers, sweepers, tractors, and snow equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate assigned light equipment under varying conditions
- Clean, service, and perform minor equipment repairs
- Complete equipment inspections and report operational issues
- Maintain daily paperwork, forms,
and work reports
- Support traffic control, Parks programs, and Winter Operations
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent required
- One year operating municipal equipment and vehicles required
- Four months each on tandem truck and loader required
- Valid Class Three Operator’s License with Q-endorsement required
- Availability for rotating holidays, evenings, nights, and weekends
