As a Senior II Software Engineer, you will design and scale backend services, APIs, microservices, and distributed systems. You will balance technical oversight with development, clarify requirements, drive execution, and align with DBA and SRE partners. The team powers core Akamai platform capabilities through reliable data services and pipelines.
Key Responsibilities: Design and scale backend data services and APIs
Architect microservices boundaries, communication patterns, and failure isolation
Build distributed systems across multiple regions
Maintain databases, schemas, indexes,
and high-availability setups
Diagnose performance, scalability, and reliability issues
Requirements: Eight years of relevant experience
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent
Production backend development with Python, Java, or Go
Deep PostgreSQL and relational database knowledge
Production microservices architecture experience
