Support young learners with complex needs as a Special Education Technician at Lasalle Jr. Elementary School in a specialized K4 classroom.
This position works within a teaching and multidisciplinary team supporting students with developmental delays, autism, and significant challenges. The work includes applying special education techniques, supports, and adaptations while building communication, self-regulation, sensory-motor, and daily living skills. A play-based approach supports school readiness, self-advocacy, and independence.
Key Responsibilities: Facilitate individual and group activities for K4 students
Maintain consistent classroom structures, routines, and expectations
De-escalate difficult situations while preserving student dignity




Prepare specialized TEACCH and visual classroom materials
Support personal care, learning, behaviour, and skill practice
Requirements: Diploma or recognized equivalent in Special Care Counselling
Current standard first aid and refresher certification
Flexibility with complex preschool student needs
Ability to work cooperatively within school teams
Experience with preschool or special needs students is an asset
Bring compassionate structure, specialized materials, and cooperative support to students developing communication and independence skills.
