This position operates specialized machinery during scrap processing and demolition activities. Daily work includes using shears, loaders, excavators, material handlers, and bale breakers. Safety, equipment care, efficient handling, and independent task completion remain central requirements.
Key Responsibilities: Perform offsite demolition of oversized material when required
Use Volvo excavators with shear and bale breaker attachments
Move levers to grade and sort scrap metal
Follow pile management procedures during material processing
Stop work immediately when hazards are present
Requirements: Three or more years operating shears, loaders, excavators, or cranes
Advanced shear experience in heavy equipment operations
Ability to understand equipment operating limitations
Ability to read simple instructions and correspondence
Successful drug, alcohol, criminal record, and fitness testing
Apply heavy equipment expertise to demolition, scrap sorting, and protected machinery operation across Richmond Steel Recycling Ltd. locations.
