MJSB seeks a Heavy Equipment Operator for municipal waste services in the Lunenburg Region, requiring safe operations and equipment expertise. Regular schedules include weekdays, Saturdays, and holidays.
This position supports the shared waste services of the Municipal Joint Services Board. You will operate assigned equipment, process and load materials, maintain the site, and provide customer service. The work suits a self-directed individual with effective verbal communication and a careful approach to safety.
Key Responsibilities: Operate assigned heavy equipment at the municipal Waste Site
Ensure incoming materials are processed safely and efficiently
Load outgoing materials within required timelines
Work collaboratively with facility staff on site maintenance




Complete other tasks assigned by Waste Site management
Requirements: Valid Nova Scotia Class 5 driver’s license and motor vehicle access
Class 3 driver’s license considered an asset
Formal equipment training and certifications required or provided onsite
Satisfactory criminal record check
Comfort with extended sitting and repetitive equipment-control motions
Support MJSB’s municipal waste operations through skilled equipment handling, protected material processing, and dependable site service.
