Support meal preparation at Maplehurst Correctional Complex using kitchen equipment, food safety practices, and dietary knowledge. This temporary role is irregular and on-call.
As a Food Service Helper with the Ontario Public Service, you will help prepare meals for inmates and maintain a secure, clean kitchen. The work includes volume cooking, cook-chill or re-thermalization methods, varied diets, and supervision of inmate helpers. Training will be provided for appropriate supervision and reporting responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities: Support or lead cook-chill and re-thermalization activities
Maintain and sanitize kitchen areas and equipment
Track and safely store ingredients, equipment, and dishware




Coordinate meal deliveries and complete incoming goods documents
Guide and support inmate helpers while reporting conduct
Requirements: Food Handler Certificate, or ability to obtain certification
First Aid and Heartsaver Certificates, or ability to recertify
Experience preparing meals and snacks with kitchen equipment
Knowledge of lifestyle, medical, and religious diets
Availability for evenings, weekends, holidays, and various shifts
