This experienced Medical Laboratory Assistant supports the Laboratory department at Bulkley Valley District Hospital. Under general supervision, the position performs specimen collection, preparation, testing, clerical functions, and other laboratory support. ECG and Holter monitor testing may be required.
Key Responsibilities: Collect, prepare, and test laboratory specimens
Perform inpatient and outpatient ECG testing
Perform Holter monitor testing as required
Explain test procedures to patients
Clean and maintain routine laboratory equipment
Requirements: Grade 12 education
Recognized Lab Assistant training program completion
One year of recent related experience
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Ability to organize work and operate equipment
Bring organized laboratory support, specimen handling, ECG testing, and effective communication to Northern Health’s Smithers facility.
